Royal Pavilion Pockets Of Love Mother’s Day

If you are thinking of a place to bring your mum for Mother’s Day this year, this might be the potential one for your consideration. Royal Pavilion’s Pockets of love Mother’s Day menu impresses again with its elegant touch mark of fine Cantonese cuisine, this time – their handcrafted dim sum and classic good old classic Cantonese dish.
There is the all-time favorite dim sum here:
Swiss BBQ Snow Buns – loved the brittle crust with the juicy barbequed pork encased within
Baked Chicken Pie in Black Truffle Oil – Fragrance of the black truffle permeates through the air that makes it irresistible to take a second pie
Each pockets of love (dimsum item) is prepared by the freshest ingredients and created with artisan flair to craft them into exquisite shapes. Aren’t they cute?
Steamed Mixed Vegetable Dumplings ($4.80++ for 3)
Steamed Spicy Dried Shrimps, Minced Pork and Eggplant dumplings ($5.00++ for 3)
I preferred the dim sums with unusual selection of fillings like scallops, cod and crab as it was unique yet flavorful, albeit at a higher price of $5.80++ for 3.
Steamed Fresh Scallops, aspagarus and egg white dumplings
Baked Cod Puffs with Black Pepper
Steamed Fresh Crab Meat and Minced Shrimp Dumplings
Royal Smoked Duck with Lychee-wood and Leaves – $35 for half duck and $68 for full duck. (Note to self: MUST BRING my mum here for THIS!!!)
This has got to be the most impressive roast duck I ever had, and I have been missing it like mad ever since I ate it back in January 2015. The duck has a smoky flavour from lychee-wood and the plum paste serves as the best companion for the dish. The meat was tender and juicy with glistening crispy skin. I was too greedy that I had 6 pieces of it (Did I just exposed myself?)
Stir Fried Coral Clam with Asparagus Sauce in “Lao Gan Tie” sauce – beautifully plated and I liked how chewy and soft the clam was.
Claypot Rice with Waxed Meat & Chinese Sausages – This good old classic Cantonese style claypot is different to the usual one we have in hawker as the ingredients are more deconstructed. The waxed meat is a tad salty, so take a small bite at each go.
Fish-shaped Panna Cotta in Mango Sago. The cutest of all has got to be this dessert – a fish swimming in a sea of mango sago that’s not overly sweet. The mango provides an assertive tanginess that’s perfect after the heavy claypot rice!
Pockets of Love Mother’s Day Menu at Royal Pavilion are available from 1 May to 10 May 2015. And of course, to all Mothers, wishing you an advanced beautiful and blessed Mother’s Day!!
