New Korean Shaved Milk Bingsu Cafes In Singapore

Bingsu! So perfect for this hot weather. The Korean bingsu craze in Singapore continues as the temperature rises.

First originated in Korea, the bingsu is the korean version of our local ice kachang. And many people will not understand the large difference in price, perhaps just like locals and expats.

Korean Bingsu is now differentiated into 2 big camps: the refined shaved milk that is so soft and fluffy and the shaved ice version that is pretty similar to ice kachang.

The refined shaved milk bingsu belong to a family. Miss Nun (Nunsongyee) at Searangoon Gardens, her brother Mr Nun (Nunsaram) at Orchard Central, twin brother of Nunsaram who stayed in Singapore since Nunsaram means Snowman in English (Snowman Desserts) at NEX and their Mother omma (Oma Spoon) at Marina Square.

Miss Nun, being the first Korean café that sells the shaved milk series bingsu in Singapore, has the advantage of being the first, The only disadvantage is probably their location that is not located near the MRT.
Miss Nun, with texture so soft and fluffy, and melts in your mouth, so tamed, so pure. We loved Miss Nun the most, because of their consistency in their shaved milk, so soft and fluffy, despite the multiple times we were there.

Opening hours: 11.30am – 10pm (Mon-Sun)
Snowman Desserts has the advantage of locating within a shopping mall, so convenient that it’s right above the MRT station. It’s price range is between $11.50- $12.50, probably the cheapest and most reasonable you can find for the shaved milk bingsu series.
We loved their Melon Bingsu, just like a huge snowman with a melon belly. A pity they used condensed milk instead of sweetened milk to pour into the bingu, which could be a little sweet. So pour at your own risk.

Opening hours: 11am – 10pm (Mon-Sun)

Opened by the people behind K Cook, they plan to expand into the west area the next month. Location advantage since it’s right in town, definitely will attract the nearby crowd.

Even though Mr Nun-saram and Miss Nun-songyee are siblings by name, their shaved milk is slightly different too. Occasionally, we noticed a few ice bits here and there although it’s supposed to be refined, but still more than decent.

Omma~~ Bingsu Jusaeyo~~ The Mother of the shaved milk bingsu series. Also have the widest price range. An Injeolmi Bingu will cost $11.90 whereas the high-end Mango Berry Cheesecake Bingsu will cost $22.80. That’s pretty expensive for a single bowl of bingsu.
Omma, please be kind to our pockets. We loved your bingsu series with interesting flavours such as Choco Brownie Bingsu ($18.80)and Mixed Berry Bingsu($18.80) but the texture can be inconsistent sometimes. The mango was unripened but the friendly staff changed it for us upon request.
