SEA and SAW by roost in Johor Bahru JB

I happened to come across this café on Instagram and after SEEing through the pictures, I found myself sitting in the café the next day.

“Keep a green tree in your hand and perhaps a singing bird will come”

Located along the highway, SEA & SAW overlooks the Singapore/Malaysia coastal waters and has a laid back and welcoming feel. The café has cool vibes, with furniture made of wood, steel designs and abundance of greeneries evident of the art of horticulture. In addition to the indoor seating, there is a beautiful, spacious and instagram-ready outdoor patio where one could enjoy the breeze and take awesome OOTDS.

Even the sections in the menu is plant themed – Parsley, Basil, Mint and etc. Menu strikes a balance between creativity and hearty dishes – charcoal burgers, thai pesto spaghetti, salmon avocado quiche and mentaiko fries.

Green tea latte – Not the usual cup as this was literally green tea powder + latte so that explains the olive green color. I only came to realize that hot milk green tea is listed as “Others” in the drinks menu. 😦

We also ordered a salmon seafood burger to share as we were rather full from the café-hopping at The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen and at Bev SEA (C). We go on the dark side here as the salmon and prawn are sandwiched between the jet-black bamboo charcoal brioche buns with cheese (more please) and cucumber mint sauce. I would have preferred a salmon & prawn patty which would better bind the flavors together. Nevertheless, I pretty much enjoyed the bun that were toasted to a crispy crust but remained fluffy within.

I got slightly irritated when the mixed berries pie was served as it looked entirely similar to the one offered at Bev C. Minutes ago while I was ordering, I asked to check if the pies served here are that same as the ones in Bev C and the reply given was “No”.  Don’t get me wrong, it is not that the pie wasn’t good but I could have opted for other items like mentaiko/truffle fries to try you see.

I got so “angry” that I saw the pie apart

Although SEA & SAW is situated quite a fair bit off from the Checkpoint (taking the cab is the easiest way), SEA & SAW is definitely a hipster CAFÉ worth going in JB, one that you could sit for hours into the night, even more so if you liked what you SEA & SAW at Bev C (SEE) like I do.
