Orchard Central – Japanese Food Ootoya, Nantsuttei, Shabu Sai Under One Roof
Japanese food has been an IN thing recently with the opening of multiple Japanese F&Bs around Singapore and within Orchard Central itself, there’s already existing tenants specializing in different Jap cuisines such as: Shabu Sai (Jap steamboat), Nantsuttei (Jap ramen), Ootoya Japanese Restaurant (casual Jap dining).
For the BIG eaters, the Eat-You-Can Shabu Sai buffet comes in 2 different types: Normal Buffet ($24.99 for adults/ $9.99 for child) and Wagyu Beef Buffet ($36.99 for adults/ $14.99 for child).
The normal buffet offers a selection of pork, beef, chicken and sushi whereas the Wagyu Beef Buffet will include free flow Grade 2 wagyu beef (that’s the real deal!
Choose 2 soup bases among the 8 different soup bases offered there. Our favourites are the Tonkotsu Shoyu with a slight savory hint and Herbal Soup (monthly special for March 2016). Yes, Herbal soup is always my favourite because I’m TCM Practitioner!
Oh man, so much meat and protein, that I could probably go for a second round of gymming. Service was pretty prompt with the refilling of soup and meat, so we could eat non stop!

For those opting to dine in a Japanese casual dining restaurant, check out Ootoya! The interior boasted tatami mats and a wooden clean feel, makes it feel like you’re dining in Japan!
Ootoya’s menu ranged from Rice Boxes aka Bento boxes for those opting a take-and-go, Toshikoshi soba which was handmade by the chef personally daily, Demi Burgers which will be on my list of next-to-try to Meat on Hot Stones (Psst… the sizzling hot sound).
For the matcha lovers, don’t miss out on the Matcha Parfait ($8) with matcha ice cream, matcha jelly, matcha pudding (lost count of the numbers of Matcha I said), red beans, sponge cake and bracken starch dumpling.
Slight bitterness of the green tea complemented with the sweetness from the red beans and bracken starch dumpling.

For those craving for ramen, there’s an option of various ramen types at Nantsuttei! For the less adventurous, opt for the Negi Ramen ($15) with green onions in a Tonkotsu broth which isn’t too porky and overwhelming.
Our favourite was the Dragon Ramen with a well-balanced spicy kick and an added fiery punch. The charshu slices were tender and pretty addictive on its own and was available separately as an a la carte at $6.50.
The Fuufu Enman Gyoza ($6 for 5pcs) were one of our favourite side dishes. Meaty, plump with a pan-fried crisp and a juicy, garlicky taste.
Promo： Quote “OCJAPMAR” be entitled to 1 free Tamago (egg) when you dine at Nantsuttei. Valid till 31st March 2016. While stocks last, 1 per customer only.
