Oleg by gCafe in Johor Bahru City Square, JB

We had plans to visit the café when it first opens in May but was held up by work commitments. The plan was delayed further following the June holidays and Hari Raya and its a relief that we managed to end up here over the weekend!
Situated at Johor Bahru City Square, Oleg by gCafe which is opened by the people behind Mount Austin gCafe, is definitely a nearer alternative. It is hard to miss this shop with its striking orange and white interiors, opposite GONG CHA at level 3.
However, what’s more eye catching than the interiors are the BLACK CHARCOAL burgers at unbeatable prices – Charcoal is the new black huh? Yay to more burger options other than the fastfood joints in the mall.

Menu
So this is how it works: Order at the counter, pay and wait for your order number to be called. It gets rather difficult to hear out for the number because of loud noise so some sort of a queue buzzer could be a solution.

Menu
You can customise your burger or waffle by selecting either chicken or beef and then choose one of the following sauces: Original / signature spicy / wasabi mayo / teriyaki / curry / Bbq

Lemon Tea
We had the signature chicken patty charcoal burger meal and opted for wasabi mayo. The meal comes with a lemon tea drink, fries as well. The egg and cheese and greens (lettuces, cucumbers and tomatoes) were sandwiched between the toasted buns. Patty was plain on its own but the wasabi mayo heightens the overall taste with an extra oomph
* Caution – it has a spicy kick to it. The fries didn’t work for us, McDonald’s fries anytime please!
Suited for the lazy ones, we went with the O’Crispy fried chicken burger that is similar to the KFC zinger burger. We thought that the soft shell crab burger looks interesting, next time maybe?
Note: Expect wait of 15 – 20 mins after placing of orders, Halal friendly cafe, FREE WIFI
Other than Oleg by gCafe, we were delighted to see cheese tarts sold at Malaysia homegrown bakery!

Cheese Tarts!
The creamy cheese tart from Lavender Bakery Cafe (1 for RM 6, 6 for RM 33)

Cheese Tarts again
Seasons Bakery (1 for RM 3.5, 5 for RM 14).
We also spotted a new Korean Dessert Cafe, Seol Won located at the JB Inner City at level 3 selling injeolmi toast and bingsu. Looks like JB City Square is getting hipster and we wished we had more stomach space man.
