Sun with Moon – Taste of Kyushu from 2 Sep – 31 Oct 2016

A Kyushu inspired menu will be available at Sun with Moon starting on 2nd Sep. Think Bluefin Lean Tuna Sashimi, Goma Salmon Sashimi, Braised Pork Belly, Beef small intestines hotpot and Sweet Potato Mont Blanc!
Our favourite was the Bluefin Tuna Sashimi served with the right level of fattiness. Many people might think that Tuna is pretty tasteless (which I agree) but the Bluefin tuna is not that tasteless after all.
The Sun Style Goma Salmon, served with soy sauce, onsen egg and spring onion was our 2nd favourite. break the egg, swirl it within the soy sauce and dip the salmon slices in it for a sweetish savory taste. Ladies will probably enjoy the sweetness in it.
The Yawaraka Buta Kakuni & Daikon will go well with a bowl of rice. Braised pork belly and radish in soy sauce and Kyushu shochu gave it a savory touch. Seems pretty Chinese to me with the flavouring.
Fat lovers will enjoy the Tousen Motsu Nabe, a hot pot with Beef small intestines, cabbage and chives. The fattiness will require several days of Pokémon hunting to burn the calories.
The Kagoshima Kurobuta Yakiniku Aged Mentaiko Kamameshi (name so long!) came with sautéed pork, cod roe served in a hotpot, with a special sauce of Kyushu yuzu fragrance. Very addictive and it’s our 3rd favourite dish.
The Te- Nobe Tonkotsu Miso Ramen has a more bold flavour to it. Ramen texture is smooth and thin, and a yuzu sauce can be added for the extra kick.
Much as we enjoyed the savory dishes, the Sweet Potato Mont Blanc fell short of expectation. Looking dainty and pretty, the cream was slightly thick and clumpy, and the tart shell was a bit too tough to cut through.
