VLV – Dim Sum In The Club At Clarke Quay

Having dim sum in a club? How cool is it?
VLV may seem like the next hipster place in Clarke Quay, with a courtyard and double storeys building. Dim Sum in the day, Clubbing area at night, the contrast in the food serve was pretty distinct.
Dim sum here is available on weekends (Sat and Sun) for 2 seatings: 11.30am – 1.30pm, 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
Priced at $58++ for adults and half priced for child aged 6-11 years old, the alcohol package with Bauget Jouette Champagne, Red/White Wine, Suntory Premium Malt Draft, Brunch Cocktails will come at $98++.
With 9 live stations that include the iconic HK Eggette 鸡蛋仔, Fried carrot cake, Braised Beef Brisket, Pork Trotter in Black Ginger Vinegar, Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Jus, Congee and the uncommon Curry Fish Ball.
Our favourite from the live stations were the Curry Fish Ball with QQ chewy, bouncy balls (no I didn’t try to bounce it on the floor) with curry zhup (sauce) that wasn’t too overwhelming.
Do try the HK Eggette which was freshly made on the spot. The aroma of the eggette were on point, with thin fluffiness in each bite. Comparable to the ones we had in Hong Kong.
The dim sum selection includes some of the common selection:
- Har Gao (Prawn Dumpling)
- Kurobuta Siew Mai
- Steamed Spare Ribs / Chicken Feet, Kurobuta Pork Bun, Glutinous Rice with lotus leaf
- Salad Prawn Dumpling
- Fried Rice Roll with Dried Shrimp in Chili Paste
On top of the usual offerings, we can choose 4 of the Chef’s recommendation on the menu.
- Crackling Pork Belly (Sio Bak)
- Roasted Duck
- Sautéed Australian Wagyu with Black Pepper
- Sweet & Sour Kurobuta
- Chili Soft Shell Crab
- Sweet & Sour Fish
- Soya Prawn
- Sautéed Japanese Scallops
- Braised Fish Head & Belly with Ginger & Scallion
Our favourite was the Crackling (literally) Pork Belly aka Sio Bak. So thin, crispy and crunchy that the sound echo-ed through the walls and ceiling. The pork had a balanced and right level of saltiness to it.
The Chili Soft Shell Crab was worth a mention. Our local rendition of sweet spicy chili crab sauce with soft shell crab that was fully edible (because it could get a little messy trying to remove the shells from real crab).
Time to vroom vroom to VLV!
