Established in 1979 with currently over 44 outlets across Japan, Numazu Uogashizushi is one of the few sushi restaurants with exclusive auction rights in the Numazu Fish Market.

In addition, they are located near to Suruga Bay which is of close proximity to the sea, which will ensure the freshest catch served at the restaurant.

Air flown into Singapore on a regular basis, the menu offers a Unagi (eel) menu ($10-35), Nigiri aka Assorted Sushi served with either Salad or Steamed Egg Custard and Soup/ Crab Soup ($28-78), Donburi aka Rice Bowls ($25-43), Fujisan Tendon ($37), Udon & Sushi Set ($23-43) and Sashimi ($16-85).

We had the Uogashi Sashimi Moriawase ($38) for 2 pax as shown in the photo above for illustration purpose, an assortment of Horse Mackerel, Tuna, Fatty tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Botan ebi (prawn), Red snapper, Snow crab and Scallop.

The Uogashi Sashimi Moriawase was worth the money, given the variety as the choices of sashimi may vary according to season to ensure that the best catch is served.

Our favourites were the Botan ebi (prawn) and Scallops which were fresh, plump and juicy, with a tinge of sweetness in it.

Oishii desu ne!

The Red Snapper was worth a mention, not commonly found in the local Japanese restaurants, with a thicker cut and a chewy bite.

Both the Tuna and Fatty Tuna comes with a thicker cut compared to other Japanese restaurants out there, for an extra bite.

Not as chewy as I thought it will be, the slices were quite soft and manageable.

For the OLs (office ladies) and gym junkies (from Fitness First upstairs), the Donburi lunch menu that comes with a bowl of miso soup is available to fulfil the protein intake.

Think Aburidon, Aburi-Unagidon, Salmon don, Maguro Zukushidon, Kaisen-don all priced at $18.
