Citizen M Taipei – New, Clean, High-tech Hotel Near Taipei Main Station

Citizen M, the Netherlands-based hotel chain had opened their very FIRST branch in Asia (Taipei) in July 2017! So NEW!

Located near to both Taipei Main station (the station at the very centre of Taipei City with High Speed Rail, Normal train and MRT) and XiMenDing (a hipster area for nightlife, night market and movies), it is one of the latest hit in town.

The entire building is painted in sexy black (easy to spot from far), with large glass windows in every room!

Check-in:

Using a self-check-in system, simply key in your Last Name or your Booking Number to start, followed by creating your own access card (which would be deactivated when you check out and able to bring home as a souvenir, or use at the next Citizen M hotel).

The common area

Just like a “living room” that makes everyone feels cosy; sofa seats, a LCD TV set, Apple Mac desktops, artworks and books on the shelves.

Rooms:

Upon entering the rooms, the first impression is that it’s NOT THAT SPACIOUS. But it’s really clean, neat and cosy.

Everything is automated with your name customised on the iPad Mini aka “mood pad” the moment you check-in at the lobby.

This “mood pad” allows full control over the television, brightness of the room and temperature! So convenient!

Room Size

Apparently, there’s no options for the different room sizes on the website, even though the rooms at the lower levels are smaller than the ones at the higher floors.

The room at the lower floor is about 15 square metre, not too big, enough to fit a King Size Bed with a single window panel.

The shower head and the toilet is connected whereas the basin is located in the room itself.

As the saying goes “the air is fresher at the top”, so are the views and the rooms haha. I had the chance to request for a change of room to the upper floor (at level 18) and was greeted with a wider room (I felt), 2 windows and the same shower+toilet cubicle.

The view at night reminded of Japan’s Shibuya Crossing, with light trails from the cars at this big road junction.

Isn’t this room at the upper level more spacious? Haha. Not complaining as I prefer this view to the one at the lower floor.

I enjoyed the clean and minimalist design of Citizen M Taipei, and the strategic location in the centre of the city which can be pretty pricey.
